§ 02 — Backend

Backend & API development in Delhi, built to carry load.

The unglamorous, load-bearing part of every product. Backends that scale, APIs that document themselves, and databases that don't corrupt at 3am. Backend systems, alongside mobile, were the studio's first focus when Techmixin was founded in Delhi in 2021. Today backend is one of seven disciplines run by one accountable team.

§ What we build

The part nobody sees, and everybody relies on.

We design and build the APIs, services, databases and integrations that apps, dashboards and AI features stand on — then document them, so your own team can carry them forward.

  • API design

REST, GraphQL, gRPC — versioned, documented, typed, tested, with contracts agreed before the first endpoint is written.

  • Microservices & monoliths

We don't default to either. We pick the right shape for your team size and domain complexity.

  • Databases

Relational, document, key-value, vector, graph. Proper schema design, indexing, migrations.

  • Serverless & event-driven

Lambda, Cloud Functions, queues, streams — when they genuinely reduce ops burden.

  • Integrations

Payment gateways, identity providers, 3rd-party APIs — we've seen most of them, broken most of them, fixed most of them.

§ Stack

A stack chosen for the long run.

Our technology direction is owned by senior engineers with deep experience across Java, Python and cloud-native systems. The senior voice is in the room for every critical design call.

  • Node.js

For API layers and realtime services, such as the commerce backend behind our fashion marketplace casework.

  • Python, Django & FastAPI

For data-heavy services and anything that sits close to machine learning, like the compute engine in our astrology casework.

  • Java / Spring & .NET

For enterprise systems and teams that already run on those platforms.

  • Cloud & delivery

Backends ship through CI/CD pipelines with logs, metrics and alerts in place — see cloud & DevOps.

  • AI-ready by design

§ How we work

Nothing gets built before it's drawn.

01

Discovery

Workshops, audits and stakeholder calls. We learn your domain, your load and the systems you already depend on.

02

Architecture

Tech stack decisions, data modelling, API contracts and integration maps.

03

Build

Weekly sprints, transparent boards and live staging environments, with repo access from week one.

04

Test & harden

Automated and manual QA plus load tests, so the first real traffic spike isn't the test.

05

Document

README, onboarding notes, architecture diagrams and runbooks. Code without context is a trap.

§ Casework · Case 04

Computational astrology platform

At its core sits a computational engine we built to calculate Vedic charts accurately from birth data — then a product layer that translates technical output into readable, personal guidance across iOS, Android and the web.

  • Astrological compute engine

The algorithmic core, built and owned by us.

  • Personalised forecasts

Guidance across career, marriage, health and other life areas.

  • Remedies, notifications & alerts

Product features served to every client app from one backend.

  • Also in the casework

Our fashion marketplace runs on a Node.js backend with payment gateway integration, real-time order tracking and push notifications.

§ Questions

What engineering leads ask us first.

Should we build microservices or a monolith? +

Neither by default. We pick the shape that fits your team size and domain complexity. A small team with one product is often better served by a well-structured monolith; separate services earn their keep when domains and teams genuinely diverge. We make and document that call in the architecture phase, before code is written.

Which API styles do you build? +

REST, GraphQL and gRPC. Every API we ship is versioned, documented, typed and tested, so the apps and partners that depend on it don't break when it changes. We agree API contracts and integration maps during architecture, and hand over README files, onboarding notes and runbooks with the code.

Which languages and frameworks do you use for backends? +

Node.js, Python with Django or FastAPI, Java with Spring, and .NET. Our backend direction is owned by senior engineers with deep experience across Java, Python and cloud-native systems. We choose a stack on whether it suits your team and will still be here in three years, not on fashion.

Can you integrate payment gateways and third-party APIs? +

Yes. Payment gateways, identity providers and third-party APIs are routine backend work for us; we've seen most of them, broken most of them and fixed most of them. Our fashion marketplace casework, for example, combines payment gateway integration with real-time order tracking and push notifications.

Can you add AI features to an existing backend? +

Yes. Our AI Studio adds agents, RAG pipelines, search and summarisation to the systems you already run, with guardrails, evaluation and cost controls. Vector databases sit alongside your existing stores. We engineer it with the same rigour as any production backend: tested, observable and with a bill you can predict.
